About DuaFlower

My passion for the arts started at an early age and was influenced by
family traditions. Music and art was celebrated throughout my
childhood and we lived embracing that "Giving back to the Earth"
and having a deep respect for it's preservation was important.

I graduated from The University of Maryland with a degree in
Advertising Design and Fine Art and then embarked on a career as
an Illustrator and Draftsperson. This diverse experience took me
everywhere from home and garden illustration and family portraits
to diagrams of space modules and sewing machines.

After adventures in Nepal, Europe and the Southwest United States,
I relocated back to the New Jersey shore and focused on my career
in painting and illustration. With representation of my work in
various galleries and award recognition for architectural themes in
watercolor and colored pencil, I was still looking to broaden my
horizons and challenge my imagination.

New York City was my calling. Photographing and painting New York's architecture and
learning about the city's history became a major pastime of mine.... until the day I
photographed my first close-up flower portrait in a friend's garden - it was like watching
a play in a magical setting with the flowers as the main characters. In front of my camera
they showed off their lively personalities with intense feeling, and a breeze would create a
watercolor landscape with them dancing and reflecting the light. I felt like I'd accidentally
discovered the secret lives of flowers.

A single flower is a field of
well-being and it's intention
is purely to connect to it's
source. My goal is to capture
this essence through my
photography and to empower
the viewer by sparking their experience to feel this 'excitedness of pure being' in themselves.
In this one small way I feel that I "Give back to the Earth".
